Our client, a tier 1 contractor focusing on energy projects across the UK, are seeking an Operations Director to lead the delivery of their substation projects in the North / Eastern regions of England. This role provides a unique opportunity to influence strategic growth and oversee the successful delivery of large-scale projects within the energy sector.


The Operations Director will drive the delivery of major projects valued over £300m+ each, significantly grow the current team size, and align their strategy with safety, sustainability, and financial goals, while fostering a high-performing, inclusive culture.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of Project Directors & Project Managers and provide operational leadership across the North / Eastern region, while ensuring safety, financial, and sustainability targets are achieved.
  • Lead and motivate project teams, encouraging a culture of continuous improvement and engagement.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with company growth objectives.
  • Maintain client satisfaction by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations.
  • Directly manage Project Directors, Operations Lead, and a commercial team to ensure cohesive, efficient operations.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to drive overall business objectives, supporting work-winning and business development efforts.


Key Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated leadership within a similar project-driven environment, ideally in energy or civil infrastructure sectors.
  • Strategic and analytical mindset with experience in financial and operational performance management.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of fostering strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to drive safety standards and champion sustainability practices.
