Antitrust & Competition Associate – London

We are working with a leading international Antitrust practice in London that is continuing to expand following recent strategic partner hires and sustained growth across its global competition platform.

The team sits within a highly integrated international group spanning London, New York, and Washington, working seamlessly across jurisdictions on complex, high-value competition matters. It is a genuinely cross-border practice where associates gain exposure to matters at the intersection of regulatory scrutiny, transactions, and contentious competition work.

Team Overview

The London team is led by Head Partner Nicole Kar alongside Annie Herdman, with a broader structure comprising 5 partners, 2 counsel, and 7 associates. The group is well-established but currently weighted towards the junior end, creating a clear opportunity for incoming mid-level hires to step into more substantive responsibility quickly. Recent strategic lateral partner hires, including Richard Pepper and Ross Ferguson, have strengthened the platform further and contributed to increased deal flow and cross-border mandates.

The Role

This is a broad Antitrust role covering the full spectrum of competition work, including merger control, investigations, litigation, and compliance advisory. The work is highly international in nature, often involving coordination with EU institutions and regulators, as well as close collaboration with colleagues in the US and wider global network. Matters regularly span mid to large-cap transactions, alongside regulatory investigations and contentious proceedings.

Associates can expect significant exposure to both transactional and contentious competition work, with increasing responsibility depending on experience level and capability.

Candidate Profile

The team is looking for mid to senior-level associates (guideline 4–6 PQE, minimum 2+ PQE considered) with a strong grounding in competition / antitrust law.

Candidates may come from a range of leading international firms or specialist competition practices. There is flexibility on background, provided there is clear and demonstrable experience in EU and/or UK competition law, particularly in areas such as merger control, investigations, or advisory work. Experience dealing with EU institutions or cross-border regulatory frameworks is particularly valued. Strong analytical ability, commercial awareness, and comfort working across jurisdictions are key.

Culture & Compensation

The practice is known for being collaborative, international, and commercially driven, with a strong emphasis on integration across offices rather than siloed teams.

There are no formal billable hour targets, with a more flexible and trust-based approach to performance. The environment is structured around delivery, quality of work, and contribution to the wider team rather than rigid hourly metrics. The culture is busy but not bureaucratic, with associates benefiting from close partner access and early responsibility on matters.

The team operates a hybrid model with flexibility across the week, including a Friday work-from-home option. Compensation is Cravath-aligned, reflecting market-leading remuneration for the Antitrust space in London.

Why This Role

This is a strong opportunity to join a rapidly growing, globally integrated Antitrust platform at a key stage of expansion. The team offers exposure to high-quality cross-border matters, direct access to senior leadership, and the chance to take on meaningful responsibility early within a busy and high-performing practice.

It is particularly well suited to associates seeking a top-tier international antitrust platform with strong deal flow, US integration, and a more flexible performance structure than traditional hour-driven environments.
