About the Team
The Global Payment team of Bytedance provides payment solutions – including payment acquisitions, disbursements, transaction monitoring, payment method management, foreign exchange conversion, accounting, reconciliations, and so on to ensure that our users have a smooth and secure payment experience on ByteDance platforms including TikTok.
We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the UK payment business for our regulated payments/e-money entity. This role will be responsible for establishing a robust financial management framework in collaboration with the group finance team, ensuring full compliance with UK regulatory requirements, and partnering with business leadership to drive sustainable growth.
This is a senior role requiring deep expertise in customer funds safeguarding, regulatory reporting, and financial governance within a UK-regulated payments, banking, or fintech environment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with HQ team to build the UK finance function, including accounting, treasury, financial reporting, and financial controls, in alignment with group standards
- Oversee safeguarding of customer funds, ensuring compliance with UK regulatory requirements (e.g. FCA expectations), including reconciliation processes and controls
- Own regulatory reporting for the UK entity, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable regulations
- Develop and implement entity level financial policies, procedures, and governance frameworks, supporting licensing requirements and ongoing regulatory obligations
- Provide strategic financial leadership to senior management and Board, translating financial insights into actionable business decisions
- Help to manage P&L performance, including revenue, operating margin, cost control, transfer pricing, and budgeting processes
- Partner closely with global finance, treasury, and tax teams to ensure alignment on policies, reporting standards, and key financial assumptions
- Manage relationships with regulators
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Business teams to support business growth while maintaining regulatory compliance
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience as a senior finance expert within a UK-regulated payments/e-money institution, bank, or fintech, ideally within a global organisation
- Strong experience in customer funds safeguarding, reconciliation, and regulatory reporting
- Demonstrated experience in building and scaling finance functions, with strong collaboration and people management capabilities
- Prior experience operating at Board or senior management level, with strong stakeholder management skills
- Strong understanding of financial controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements in the UK
- Detail‑oriented, highly organised, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment, with excellent communication skills to clearly explain complex financial topics
- Experience in implementing automation, with a forward‑looking mindset to adopt frontier technologies such as AI
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, or equivalent
- Experience working in high‑growth or scaling fintech environments
- Familiarity with FCA regulatory framework
