A Warehouse Operative plays a key role in the dismantling, segregation, and recovery of high-value materials from retail fixtures as part of Somervilles circular-economy and zero-waste-to-landfill commitment. The role supports efficient workshop operations, ensuring that materials, components, and equipment are handled safely, responsibly, and in line with environmental and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dismantle and process , fixtures, and materials in accordance with approved recycling and safety procedures.
  • Material-handling equipment for movement, loading, and storage of components and kits.
  • Organise and maintain recycling kits, ensuring accurate identification, labelling, and storage.
  • Assist with data recording and traceability of materials through the recycling process.
  • Support continuous improvement in recycling efficiency, waste reduction, and carbon-saving initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant working environment in line with Somervilles H&S and sustainability policies.
  • Collaborate with workshop and logistics teams to optimize flow of dismantled components and recovered materials.

About You

  • Comfortable working with hand tools and completing manual tasks
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
  • Able to work well within a team and follow instructions
  • Practical experience in warehouse, joinery, or recycling environments. (preferable)
  • Awareness of environmental and sustainability principles (training provided).
