An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled Senior Design Engineer to join a growing, privately-owned design and build specialist. This well-established business delivers complex fit‑out projects across controlled environments, with a consistent pipeline of work and a strong reputation for quality and collaboration.

Due to continued growth, they are now looking to strengthen their internal design team with an experienced engineer from either a mechanical or electrical background. This is a key position offering project ownership, technical variety, and the chance to work in a supportive, close‑knit environment that reflects the values of a family‑run business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and specification of mechanical or electrical building services for commercial fit‑out projects.
  • Produce high‑quality technical drawings and schematics using Revit and other design tools.
  • For mechanical bias: HVAC, plumbing and drainage, chilled water systems, refrigeration, and compressed air.
  • For electrical bias: Power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, and small power systems.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external contractors to ensure designs are fully coordinated and value‑engineered.
  • Support tender and construction phases with practical, buildable design solutions.
  • Ensure designs are fully compliant with current Building Regulations and industry standards.
  • Work to key project deadlines and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in mechanical or electrical design within the built environment.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial or industrial fit‑out projects.
  • Proficiency in Revit (essential) and familiarity with BIM processes.
  • Ability to develop and present technical solutions clearly and accurately.
  • Sound understanding of construction and services integration.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills across disciplines.
