Senior Care Assistant
Location: Newtownards, Co Down. Northern Ireland
Salary: £13.87 / Paid Breaks

Full Time, Nights (36hrs per week)

Black Fox Solutions is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded care provider for an experienced and compassionate Nights Senior Care Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional who is passionate about delivering outstanding, person-centred care while leading and supporting a team.


The Role:

As a Senior Care Assistant, you will play a key leadership role within the care team, ensuring residents receive the highest standards of safe, dignified, and empathetic care. You will support the Nurse Manager or Residential Manager, supervise care staff, and act as a role model in delivering best practice.

Key Responsibilities:


Care Delivery

  • Provide high-quality, person-centred care tailored to individual needs
  • Support the admission of new residents, ensuring a smooth and welcoming transition
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date care plans reflecting changing needs
  • Monitor and report any physical or emotional changes in residents
  • Administer medication safely in line with policies and procedures

Leadership & Team Support

  • Lead, motivate, and support care staff to deliver exceptional care
  • Assist with the induction, training, and supervision of new and junior team members
  • Promote a positive, collaborative team environment
  • Ensure all tasks and documentation are completed to a high standard

Communication

  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with residents, families, and colleagues
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with information governance standards
  • Report incidents, accidents, or concerns promptly and appropriately
  • Represent the home professionally to visitors and prospective residents

Health & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety, infection control, and safeguarding policies
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion at all times
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors

Essential Criteria

  • QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a care setting
  • Strong understanding of care standards and relevant legislation
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to lead, prioritise, and work effectively under pressure

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous supervisory or team leader experience
  • Medication administration training
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
