From concept, you will work within your team to design, develop, prototype and test products. This role is working with a close team of experienced and collaborative Mechanical Design Engineers. The role reports directly to the Engineering Manager.
The position of Senior Design Engineer:
- Development products from concept through to manufacture, both individually, or as a member of a project team using SolidWorks
- Work to required deliverables, ensuring design projects are on time and within budget
- Support prototyping by providing accurate data to the prototyping resources
- Support product/project reviews
- Ensure all products are thoroughly tested and meet regulatory requirements
- Work with other Designers, Implementation Engineers, departments, test labs, suppliers and contractors to ensure the successful project completion
- Adhere to design procedures and protocols, keeping electronic files
- Communicate project briefs to the design team
- Research projects thoroughly covering user needs, market requirements and technical requirements
To be successful for this role:
- A minimum of 5 years Mechanical Design Experience
- Experience of designing and managing products from concept through development to full production
- A thorough understanding of manufacturing process including plastics and metal fabrication
- Strong concepting, visualization and problem solving skills
- Strong 3D design package experience such as SolidWorks
