Overview

We are seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to join a leading Energy Transition team, supporting the delivery of innovative, low-carbon and energy infrastructure projects across the UK and beyond.

This role will involve taking a technical leadership position within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, contributing to projects from early-stage feasibility through to detailed design, construction, and operational support.

You will play a key role in developing high-quality electrical engineering solutions across a diverse range of energy sector projects, including emerging and first-of-a-kind technologies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the development of cost-effective and innovative electrical engineering solutions across multidisciplinary project teams
  • Deliver electrical engineering work across all project stages, including:
  • Feasibility studies
  • Concept design
  • FEED
  • Value engineering
  • Detailed design
  • Develop key electrical deliverables including:
  • Single line diagrams (SLDs)
  • Cable calculations
  • Cable block diagrams
  • Plant layouts and cable routing designs
  • Containment designs
  • Switchgear configuration philosophies
  • Bills of materials and quantities
  • Collaborate with equipment vendors to develop package designs and support technical evaluations
  • Support assessment of electrical assets in construction or operation, identifying performance risks and improvement opportunities
  • Contribute to proposals, bids, and multidisciplinary tender submissions
  • Provide technical leadership within EC&I electrical engineering discipline


Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Significant post-graduate experience in electrical design, operation, maintenance, or testing
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards IEng/CEng) with a relevant professional institution
  • Strong understanding of power and energy project design, construction, and operation
  • Proven ability to develop electrical engineering deliverables or assess operational/installed assets
  • Experience with medium and high-voltage systems, including commissioning, operation, maintenance, and testing
  • Strong understanding of engineering design processes, including:
  • Design scope development
  • Engineering calculations
  • Technical documentation
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering environments


Project Scope

Projects will support the Energy Transition and low-carbon infrastructure sector, including:

  • Renewable and low-carbon energy systems
  • Power generation and distribution infrastructure
  • Industrial and energy process facilities
  • First-of-a-kind and emerging energy technologies
  • Full lifecycle delivery from concept through to decommissioning

You will work alongside developers, utilities, EPC contractors, OEMs, government bodies, and financial stakeholders.
