About you
- Minimum 2 years' experience in import and customs clearance, ideally within sea freight
- Proven experience with HMRC Customs Clearance and CNSonline system
- Strong understanding of the freight forwarding industry and customs procedures
- Strong background/experience with GB/NI customs procedures
- GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths
- IT literate, confident using Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to work under pressure
- Effective communicator with a team-focused attitude
What you'll do
- Prepare customs clearance quotations for new accounts and complete import entries on internal systems
- Liaise with HMRC, Border Force, and other agencies to resolve queries and facilitate smooth shipments
- Collate and manage documentation to expedite customs releases and deliveries
- Secure payments for duties, VAT, and cod accounts prior to consignment release
- Negotiate haulage and delivery costs with suppliers, organise logistics, and monitor shipment progress
- Process invoices, manage customer relationships, and handle queries promptly
- Maintain accurate records and monitor deferment accounts for continuous process improvement
