Legal Counsel – Public Procurement
Location: London (3 days per week in the office)
Salary: £65,000- £75,000 per annum
LAW Absolute is working with an engineering and technology consultancy who are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join its UK legal team, with a strong focus on public procurement.
The Role
The successful Legal Counsel will provide practical, commercially focused legal advice across UK operations, acting as a trusted partner to the business. The role is hands-on and varied, supporting public sector bids, frameworks and complex contractual arrangements. Public procurement experience is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead review and negotiation of public sector contracts, frameworks and call-off agreements
- Support bid and tender processes, ensuring procurement compliance
- Advise on Crown Commercial Service frameworks and public sector regulations
- Review and manage commercial contracts through their full lifecycle
- Provide legal advice on governance, risk, compliance and litigation
- Support HR on employment law matters
- Contribute to compliance programmes and M&A activity as required
About You
- Qualified lawyer with 1-3 years PQE ideally
- Proven public procurement / public sector contracts experience (essential)
- Strong knowledge of UK contract law (public & private sector)
- Experience with CCS frameworks, IR35 and the contractor marketplace
- Commercial, pragmatic and confident advising senior stakeholders
- Role requires (or eligibility for) UK security clearance (BPSS)
