The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a Buyer to join a well-established and growing organisation in Middlesbrough. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional with a background in manufacturing or wholesale environments to play a key role in supporting supply chain operations and driving commercial performance.
This is a dynamic position that offers the chance to work closely with suppliers, manage raw material sourcing, and contribute to continuous improvement within purchasing and supply chain processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure raw materials and components in line with production and operational requirements
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts to ensure best value
- Monitor market trends and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate risks
- Work collaboratively with internal teams including supply chain, production, and logistics to ensure timely availability of materials
- Manage stock levels and inventory flow to support operational efficiency and minimise excess or shortages
- Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accurate data and timely delivery tracking
- Conduct supplier evaluations and audits, ensuring quality, reliability, and compliance standards are met
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain functions
- Resolve supply issues proactively to avoid disruption to production schedules
- Analyse purchasing data and generate reports to support decision-making and forecasting
About You
- Proven experience in a Buyer or Purchasing role within manufacturing or wholesale environments (essential)
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Good understanding of supply chain processes and inventory management
- Commercially astute with the ability to identify cost efficiencies
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment
