Lead GIS Supervisor
GE Vernova is looking for an exceptional Lead GIS Supervisor to join our Field Services team based in the United Kingdom.
Role Overview
The Lead GIS Supervisor is responsible for supervising execution of all GIS service activities on customer sites to the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance, ensuring consistent delivery and environmental protection across all operations.
This role exists to ensure that all site‑based service, maintenance, and inspection activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with GEV Grid policies, client requirements, and applicable UK and international legislation. The role safeguards the integrity of SQDC performance – Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost – by enforcing rigorous standards, promoting continuous improvement, and maintaining strong operational discipline. Acting as a key on‑site leader, the GIS Supervisor ensures that work is executed to the highest technical and environmental standards while fostering a culture of accountability, safe behaviours, and operational excellence across all service teams.
Your Impact
- Safeguard the quality and integrity of all GIS installation, maintenance, and repair activities by overseeing the full build process and ensuring strict adherence to standards.
- Strengthen operational performance by managing non‑conformities (NCPs), driving timely resolution, and ensuring accurate closure and reporting.
- Act as the key link between the GIS product unit, service teams, and the client, ensuring smooth communication and rapid escalation of product or installation issues.
- Lead and coordinate daily field resources to maximise project success, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required technical quality.
- Produce clear, timely reports on project progress, engineering issues, and site variations while maintaining accurate records, RAMS, NCRs, TQs, and other essential documentation.
- Conduct investigative site visits to assess equipment condition and failures, providing expert insight that supports corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to contractor evaluation and performance reviews while promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with GE governance, quality plans, and site standards.
- Plans and delivers work according to the agreed schedule, ensuring completion within predetermined timeframes and budget constraints.
Special Role Requirements
- Able to travel extensively to and from projects and various field assignments.
- Ability to spend considerable time away from home for projects and field assignments.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
The ideal candidate is a safety‑driven and highly experienced GIS specialist with strong leadership capability and the drive to coach and motivate teams across complex projects in the UK and Northern Europe.
- Brings previous hands‑on GIS experience, ideally authorised on GEV equipment (T155, F35, B105), with strong competence in installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of HV plant.
- Holds a solid engineering background (C&G/ONC/HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) with IOSH Managing Safely and SSSTS, and a strong understanding of CDM regulations and site leadership responsibilities.
- Demonstrates proven ability to lead field teams, manage subcontractors and apprentices, and oversee daily site operations to ensure safe, timely, and cost‑controlled project delivery.
- Skilled in substation primary plant construction, secondary wiring, and investigative site work, with the ability to diagnose equipment condition and failures.
- Communicates confidently with internal and external stakeholders, producing accurate reports, RAMS, NCRs, TQs, and quality documentation in line with GEV governance.
- Highly organised, self‑motivated, and resilient under pressure, with strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a small team.
- Willing to travel across the UK and internationally – often at short notice – with a valid passport and driving licence.
- Holds (or can obtain) MoD security clearance
