IQA – Electrical Installation


We have an exciting opportunity at Chelmsford College for an Internal Quality Assurer to join our Building Services–Electrical team on a variable hours contract up to 12 hours per week (0.4 FTE).


The IQA role will monitor, review and evaluate the quality of assessment processes and practice to ensure that awarding body standards are maintained within the Electrical Department. The successful candidate will work as part of the Electrical Installations team, reviewing assessor performance, identifying development needs, and collaborating with the Head of Department to improve assessment quality. This is a supportive role that assists lecturers.



  • Devise and record individual assessment action plans with staff and determine whether assessment processes meet quality requirements.

  • Track student progress and ensure assessments are planned, prepared for and carried out according to the quality assurance calendar.

  • Provide written and oral feedback to assessors and update assessment records in line with internal and external quality standards set by the awarding body.

  • Advise and support assessors to improve assessment practice and ensure assessment decisions are made with specified criteria.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience



  • Academic qualifications relevant to the field of study, equivalent to at least Level 3.

  • Assessor Award Qualification D32/33, A1, TAQA or equivalent.

  • Academic and/or professional experience relevant to the field of study.

  • Excellent interpersonal and team development skills, able to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Good IT and administrative skills and ability to maintain accurate tracking records for tools and equipment.


Additional Information


Starting salary will be dependent on qualifications, skills and experience. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
