About the role

Working with Shelter and our partner organisation, Doncaster Housing for Young People, you will deliver high‑quality legal services through casework, the Housing Loss Prevention Advice Scheme and meet Legal Aid contract requirements and performance targets.

Responsibilities – Paralegal

You will help solicitors maintain an active caseload, enabling clients to enforce their housing rights. Your duties include taking instructions and witness statements, drafting letters, making applications, providing court representation and ensuring accurate time‑recording and income targets are met.

Responsibilities – Solicitor (or Specialist)

You will challenge unfair housing practices and systemic causes of homelessness through strategic casework and litigation. Working closely with the Sheffield team and the Managing Solicitor, you will strengthen housing rights awareness across the region, support Legal Advisers and ensure high professional standards and compliance.

Qualifications – Paralegal

Good understanding of litigation work, legal research, and a standard of professional service and client care. Excellent communication skills, both written and face‑to‑face. Proficiency using case management systems and time recording. Ability to manage time and workload. Housing law experience and knowledge of Legal Aid/CCMS is an advantage. Collaborative, responsive to change, and willing to challenge the status quo.

Qualifications – Solicitor

Newly qualified candidates or those with 3+ years PQE, demonstrable interest in social justice, and a strong track record in housing law and Legal Aid work. Experience in private or not‑for‑profit sector, wide range of housing cases, knowledge of legal aid, housing, homelessness and welfare law. Ability to research, write reports, time‑record and meet financial targets. Willingness to develop to meet Housing Supervisor Requirements.
