Hours: 12.5 Programmed Activities (PA) per week (averaged 40hrs/week)

12 months fixed term contract

As a member of the anaesthetic team, you will be expected to provide a full range of services related to anaesthesia and resuscitation for patients in the hospital. There are 3 separate full shift rotas covering General Theatres, ICU and OBS you will be expected to take part in a 1:8 rota which depends on your experience and training. Wide experience is available in all aspects of anaesthesia normally associated with a busy district general hospital.

Main duties of the job

This post would be suitable for anaesthetists requiring further training and consolidation of experience for examinations or applying for further training posts in the future. You will be given time to attend tutorials and educational opportunities.

We are keen to appoint an enthusiastic junior colleague who is committed to a career in Anaesthetics. You will be expected to take a full part in the department's projects, teaching and audit.

Job responsibilities

To undertake a full range of anaesthetic duties including pre-assessment, anaesthesia and post-operative care. During the day there will be accompanied lists with Consultant Anaesthetists and an opportunity to work with distant supervision. To provide advice and treatment as indicated, according to anaesthetic policies. To liaise with professional colleagues both inside and outside the department to ensure optimum patient care. To keep adequate and legible records of all consultations or patient contacts. To provide written reports on patients when required. In all the above, to have regard for the standards of confidentiality required by statute, custom and good clinical practice. Accountability to the Clinical Lead.

Qualifications/Registration

  • MB, ChB or equivalent
  • Registration with GMC (full or limited)
  • ALS Provider
  • Primary FRCA and DA

Experience

  • Significant experience in anaesthetics
  • Evidence of completed competencies in general anaesthesia, basic obstetrics and ITU
  • Experience in acute specialities other than anaesthesia
  • Experience of anaesthesia in the UK
