Permanent/fixed-term: Permanent
Grade: 16
Closing date: 31/05/26
Summary
We are currently looking for three Analysts, covering economic and consumer analysis, to join our Business Intelligence team at the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH). The team plays a leading role in understanding strategic issues and sector risks that impact social housing providers, using analysis to shape our approach to regulating economic and consumer standards.
About the role
Analysts deliver and develop economic or consumer analytical projects to enable the regulator to maintain a leading understanding of important sector risks and strategic issues. Responsibilities include undertaking in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis on risks and trends affecting social housing providers, including registered Local Authorities or other key strategic issues for the regulator, and using this to inform decision makers within the regulator, central government and the wider sector.
The roles span a broad range of topics, including landlord performance information, policy changes, tenant satisfaction, macro-economic risks, social and economic impact assessments, and cost-benefit analysis. Two of the roles focus on supporting value for money regulation, developing our approach to the regulator’s standards, particularly on financial viability, rents and value for money. The third role focuses on consumer analysis, developing analysis to understand how landlords respond to proactive consumer regulation, covering repairs and maintenance, stock condition, building safety and tenant satisfaction.
Analysts also have opportunities to contribute to high‑profile regulatory publications and official statistics, such as Tenant Satisfaction Measures and Value for Money metrics publications.
About you
Successful candidates will have experience in carrying out high quality research and analysis, including analysing data, developing or analysing models and interpreting evidence. They will also possess excellent report writing and communication skills to convey complex ideas to a wide range of stakeholders. A strong analytical background with a degree in a relevant subject, preferably including an economic, finance, statistical or social research component, is required.
Benefits and Salary
Competitive salary within the given range, with annual salary reviews determined by the government pay award. Other benefits include a 35 hour working week, 33 days annual leave, access to the Civil Service Pension Scheme, flexible and hybrid working, family friendly policies that support work‑life balance, staff discount scheme, cycle to work scheme, Nuffield Health Screening and a range of well‑being focused benefits.
Location
Hybrid model of working with a mix of office and home working. This role can be based out of any of RSH’s core offices in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol. The Manchester and Bristol offices will relocate during 2026/27 but will remain within their city centres. Some travel within England between offices and occasional on‑site visits to social housing providers are expected.
Commitment to Equality and Diversity
Our anonymous shortlisting process helps to ensure fair and consistent recruitment decisions, based solely on skills and experience. We are a Disability Confident Employer and shortlist those who best meet the minimum criteria. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, beliefs, identities and life experiences, recognising that varied perspectives enrich our organisation.
