Job Description
We're looking for a Major Projects Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Building Services Design team based in Salford / Speke. Kier Design is a top‑25 engineering consultancy delivering a wide range of services across all sectors of the built environment. We have preferential access to Kier’s £11bn+ project pipeline, including mega projects like High Speed 2 and Hinkley Point C, and frameworks with national and local government and other public bodies.
Location: Salford / Speke Hours: 40 hours per week – some flexibility available.
Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality electrical designs and specifications that meet client requirements and brief.
- Lead the electrical design team on large, complex construction projects; integrate different disciplines; ensure quality control.
- Represent electrical engineering in project design meetings, establishing solutions, agreeing concepts, and working closely with colleagues and other design team members.
- Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, regulations, industry standards and Kier Design standards and procedures.
- Promote and implement sustainable design solutions.
- Identify and resolve technical and logistical challenges during the design and construction phases, making proposals and developing innovative solutions.
- Implement agreed initiatives such as BIM and other technical improvements.
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Member of CIBSE or IET.
- Chartered Engineer or working towards chartered status.
- Demonstrated capability to fulfil the accountabilities of the role with high level of knowledge and experience in the discipline.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a wider business audience.
- Experience applying quality procedures and document control in engineering design.
- Ability to pass BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) requirements.
