Our client, a prominent council within the highways sector, is currently seeking a Traffic Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. The role involves working on traffic and road safety schemes, contributing to the design, implementation, and improvement of traffic services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the team, carrying out technical functions as required.
  • Design, implement, and improve traffic services in accordance with council policy.
  • Act as a spokesperson on engineering and traffic matters when requested.
  • Assist in the project management of assigned projects, from conception through to implementation and monitoring.
  • Coordinate work programmes and schedules for assigned functional areas, providing technical guidance and training where necessary.
  • Develop, design, and implement measures to enhance and maintain the highway network and infrastructure.
  • Ensure actions comply with the council's quality standards and policies, as well as relevant legislation and procedures.
  • Assist in preparing advice to senior management and the council on new or draft legislation and technical developments.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in traffic design engineering within the highways sector.
  • Strong understanding of traffic and road safety schemes.
  • Proficiency in using design and drafting packages such as AutoCAD.
  • Ability to develop and implement traffic services that meet the needs of the community.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage projects through all stages from conception to implementation.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
  • Ability to use and promote information technology systems efficiently.
