An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Cardiologist with an interest in Cardiac Imaging, to join a current team of highly performing and productive consultant colleagues at the University Hospitals Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

This post offers a chance to shape the future of one of the UK's largest non-surgical cardiac centres, serving a catchment of over 1 million residents across Derbyshire and East Staffordshire.

We are currently recruiting to the following sub-specialty post:

  • 1x Consultant Cardiologist with interest in Cardiac Imaging

Main duties of the job

  • Join a team of three imaging consultants in delivering and developing advanced cardiac imaging services.
  • Contribute to BSE-accredited echocardiography, TOE, DSE, CT, and MRI services.
  • Expand our services in line with NICE CG95 guidance and rising demand.
  • Participate in a 1:7-8 general cardiology on-call rota covering CCU and dedicated consultant of week cardiology wards.

Job responsibilities

  • Three catheter labs at Derby (2 for PCI and 1 for devices).
  • 13-bedded CCU, day-case unit, and 3245-bedded dedicated cardiology wards.
  • Large clinical measurement department, accredited by BSE, offering comprehensive echo services.
  • Excellent partnership with radiology for CT and MRI cardiac imaging.
  • Close ties with the University of Nottingham, supporting medical education and NIHR cardiovascular research.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Have full GMC registration and hold a license to practice at time of application
  • Eligible for entry on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Cardiology

Experience

  • Ability to manage and lead a service

Teaching

  • Teaching student and resident doctors
  • Show an understanding of the development needs of trainees and how these can be met.

Audit

  • Experience of clinical audit
  • Experience of audit management
  • Evidence of service development activity

Training

  • Trained in all aspects of Cardiology AND be fully trained in Cardiac Imaging (Echo, CT, and MR)
  • Level 3 in CMR and CT

Clinical Skills

  • Demonstratable track record in coronary angiography (and pacing)
  • Wide experience in Cardiology
