About the Role
R9 Recruitment is currently seeking experienced Domestic Gas Service & Breakdown Engineer to join the field force of one of the largest European appliance manufacturers. This is a home-based role covering the DE and NG postcode areas, offering stability, structure, and excellent long-term benefits.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality service and breakdown support across a wide domestic gas product range, working to manufacturer standards while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction. This role suits engineers who are confident working independently, managing a busy daily schedule, and operating within performance-based targets.
Working Pattern
- Engineers are home-based, travelling directly to customer appointments
- All daily work is issued electronically via company laptop
- Engineers are required to contact customers each morning to confirm ETA
- There are no fixed start or finish times, however engineers must be:
- At their first appointment by 9:00am, or
- 12:30pm for later-start routes
- All jobs issued must be completed on the same day
Workload & Team Structure
- Average workload of 7-8 jobs per day, dependent on location and mileage
- Jobs are allocated to ensure efficient routing and minimal travel time
Spares & Logistics
- Overnight spares replenishment, delivered directly to the engineer's vehicle
- Engineers must have:
- Suitable parking at home
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults and repair domestic gas appliances
- Carry out planned servicing and reactive breakdown work
- Achieve daily productivity, efficiency, and quality targets
- Accurately complete job reports and documentation via laptop and mobile systems
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in domestic gas service and breakdown work
- Current ACS Gas Qualifications, including:
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability
- Full UK driving licence
