Ward Administrator – Intensive Care Unit
As a Ward Administrator within the Intensive Care Unit, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth and efficient day‑to‑day running of the department by providing high‑quality administrative and clerical support to the multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Welcome all visitors to the ICU in a friendly, professional, and empathetic manner.
- Respond promptly and politely to telephone and face‑to‑face enquiries, ensuring accurate message‑taking and appropriate escalation.
- Independently manage the ICU elective admissions diary.
- Autonomously schedule, cancel, and update ICU follow‑up clinic appointments.
- Provide day‑to‑day administrative support to ward managers and senior staff.
- Maintain effective organisation of unit paperwork and documentation.
- Liaise with clinical teams, bed managers, and other departments to support effective communication and workflow.
- Arrange translation services when required, following approved Trust processes.
- Uphold all Trust policies, including those relating to Infection Control, Confidentiality, Data Protection, and Uniform.
- Demonstrate sensitivity when supporting distressed or bereaved patients and families, escalating to senior staff where appropriate.
