Repairs Officer

Full‑time (37 hours) – Permanent. Grade B2 – £31,537 – £33,699 per annum.

North Kesteven District Council is looking for an experienced professional to join the Property Services Repairs Team. In this role you will handle day‑to‑day repairs and maintenance crucial to providing safe, efficient, and welcoming homes for the Council’s over 3,800 social housing stock. You will work in housing repairs, supporting the delivery of a repairs and voids service.

Job Requirements

  • A detailed understanding of property construction types (traditional and non‑traditional social housing stock is desirable).
  • Experience working within a repairs and maintenance service.
  • HNC building/housing related qualification or equivalent experience.
  • The ability to work in a busy environment while prioritising a varied workload.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor housing repair reports received by the Council’s contractors and use technical knowledge to liaise with tenants and contractors, generating work orders using the repairs computer‑based system.
  • Assist tenants and obtain clear information on repair problems, giving technical advice and providing concise instructions to contractors.
  • Post‑inspect the required sample of work selected by the Senior Repairs Officer, challenge poor quality work with contractors and provide timely reports.
  • Carry out inspections and analyses of properties where damp and mould issues have been reported, order work and monitor as per legislation time‑scales.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages and ability to work on bespoke systems (training given).
  • Commitment, enthusiasm, and a passion for delivering excellence.

You will be required to apply a high level of conscientiousness when carrying out this role, supporting the delivery of the repairs service at a technical level and showing an appreciation of the contribution local government can make to the welfare of the people living, working, and visiting the district.
