Overview
A national charity is looking for a retail director on an initial six‑month contract until the end of 2026. The charity has gone through a significant period of change, with a restructuring of its operations and senior leadership team. As a result, this newly created role is adding to the senior management structure. The charity’s values are bold, impactful, collaborative and equitable and are at the centre of all decisions that are made within the organisation.
Responsibilities
The director of retail will oversee all retail operations functions including facilities, licensing, e‑commerce, stock and logistics and the portfolio of shops in the London area. Initially, the primary focus of the role is creating and setting best practice across the organisation, whilst providing excellent leadership to area managers, shop managers and functional teams. There are plans to embark on a shop opening programme, once the basics have been fully implemented across the store estate.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in successfully leading and expanding a retail business, preferably with knowledge of the charity retail sector. They should exhibit strong commercial acumen and a proven track record of achieving sales targets from a high‑street or charity retail environment. Experience leading a large retail team and exceptional leadership and team management skills are required. Ideally, the candidate will also have knowledge and experience of developing and leading an e‑commerce offer. The role demands a strategic thinker with the ability to drive the retail vision across the organisation through operational plans.
Benefits
