A Vacancy at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Physiotherapist to join the stroke therapy service at Peterborough City Hospital.

The overall stroke pathway comprises a HASU and ASU at Peterborough City Hospital and acute beds at Hinchingbrooke Hospital. The position is mainly at Peterborough City Hospital however flexibility will be required to provide cross-site cover.

The successful applicant will manage a varied and complex clinical caseload and be able to provide person-centred evidence-based stroke rehabilitation. They will be expected to participate in the supervision, development and training of students, registered staff and support workers, and will also be involved in service development and clinical audit. Regular supervision, training and development opportunities will be provided to ensure personal career development. Weekend and bank holiday working will be required. There will be a practical element to the interview so candidates need to attend for a face to face interview at Peterborough City Hospital.

This post can be filled by either an Occupational Therapist or Physio Therapist.

Responsibilities

  • To enable Physiotherapy to provide Therapy Skills within the inpatient stroke service
  • To ensure safe, efficient and effective delivery of patient focussed care in line with identified evidence based practice, local and national standards
  • To work collaboratively within Multidisciplinary and Multi-agency Teams
  • To participate in delegated projects for service development with the team
  • To act autonomously in the assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have a complex presentation
  • To demonstrate a flexible approach to working in support of the whole in patient/out patient team
  • To undertake weekend working as required within service developments
  • To be available to provide Clinical Supervision
  • This role entails 80% Clinical Contact and 20% Operational Management as appropriate within team requirements
  • To guide Band 5 and support staff in the management and delivery of therapeutic care plans
  • Priority will be given to colleagues identified as at risk through the Trust’s redeployment process.
