Senior Operations Director – 600+ FTE | Change centred focus

onsite 4 days p/w – Edinburgh

Are you a visionary operational leader who thrives at the intersection of complex service delivery and large-scale cultural evolution?

Our client is seeking an outstanding Senior Operations Director to spearhead a multi-year, high-stakes business transformation. This is not a "business as usual" role; it is a mandate to lead a fundamental shift in how a major regulated enterprise serves its customers, navigating a transition to a unified, digital-first operating model.

The Opportunity

You will hold full accountability for a sophisticated operational partnership, managing a significant £30m+ annual budget. This role demands a leader who can balance rigorous financial and data controls with a deep commitment to customer-centricity and journey-led service design.

Key Responsibilities you must have experience in:

  • Scale Leadership: Direct a complex, multi-site operation of 600+ FTE, encompassing both onshore and offshore delivery teams across front, middle and back-office functions.
  • Strategic Transformation: Lead the transition from legacy structures to a modern, single-platform operating model with onshore / offshore operations, ensuring seamless service continuity during deep technology estate changes.
  • Cultural Evolution: Act as a "follow-me" leader to drive mindset shifts in environments that may be change-resistant, fostering a high-performance, agile culture.
  • Commercial Mastery: Manage complex P&L and commercial frameworks, ensuring that operational excellence directly translates into margin protection and value creation.
  • Client Stewardship: Navigate intricate, high-level stakeholder relationships (C-Suite), acting as a trusted partner through periods of ambiguity and rapid business pivoting.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a heavyweight operator with a proven track record in highly regulated industries – specifically Financial Services (Banking, Insurance, L&P, Wealth, Retirement), Telecoms, or Utilities.

You will bring:

  • Large-Scale Expertise: Extensive experience managing operations exceeding 600+ FTE with a combined onshore/offshore footprint.
  • Transformation Pedigree: A history of successfully delivering large-scale operational migrations, headcount transitions, and digital platform adoptions.
  • Analytical Rigor: A data-driven approach to performance improvement, utilizing deep metrics to drive decision-making and financial control.
  • Exceptional EQ: The ability to influence, mobilize capabilities, and simplify the complex for diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Tenacity: The resilience to thrive in fast-moving, sometimes ambiguous environments where problem-solving and navigating uncertainty are daily requirements.

Why This Role?

This is a rare opportunity to own the operational roadmap for a market leader undergoing a generational shift. If you are a high-energy leader who can marry commercial acumen with people-first transformation, we want to hear from you.
