The Role

Our Milton Keynes-based engineering team plays a vital role in both new product development and customer-focused solution engineering. We are looking to strengthen our team by recruiting an experienced Design & Quality Engineer who can effectively operate at the interface between design, project management, quality, and customer support.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum qualification: A Level or BTEC in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a design office environment
  • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Mechanical Desktop, AutoCAD)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of press tooling; experience with FEA is advantageous
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and self-motivation
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Right to live and work in the UK (please note: we are unable to offer sponsorship)

Key Responsibilities

Design Responsibilities

  • Report to and support the Engineering Manager
  • Liaise with sales teams and customers on technical and design matters
  • Define product and system specifications
  • Identify and develop new product opportunities
  • Carry out analytical studies (e.g. FEA)
  • Prepare cost estimates
  • Produce drawings for non-standard and bespoke products
  • Create drawings for tooling and jig fixtures
  • Input manufacturing operations into Sage software
  • Stay up to date with new materials, technologies, and processesWork in accordance with company procedures

Quality Responsibilities

  • Inspect components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications
  • Support and develop the company’s Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001:2015
  • Assist with Health & Safety compliance
  • Conduct hands-on inspections, including first-off and periodic checks
  • Perform goods-in inspection
  • Ensure all products and services meet customer requirements
  • Produce documentation such as NCRs, CoCs, and LoCs
  • Promote a strong quality culture across the organisation
  • Operate CMM equipment (training provided if required)
  • Liaise with suppliers on quality-related matters
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues
  • Maintain basic calibration records for inspection tools (e.g. calipers, micrometers)

Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 09:00 – 17:00
  • Friday: 09:00 – 16:30
