Technical Artist (Unity / VR) – Build Next-Gen VR Experiences
UK (Remote)
Rate 35 pounds an hour flexible
Responsibilities
- Create high-impact VFX, shaders, textures, and meshes for immersive VR environments
- Define and evolve environment and VFX pipelines, tools, and workflows
- Develop and optimize custom Unity tools for artists and designers
- Work hands-on with HLSL shaders, ensuring they are clean, scalable, and high-performing
- Drive visual quality while maintaining performance targets for VR/mobile platforms
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical, rendering, and performance bottlenecks
- Collaborate closely with a small, high-caliber team of artists and engineers
Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience with Unity (Unity3D)
- 2+ years working as a Technical Artist
- Deep understanding of rendering pipelines (Forward & Built-in)
- Proven experience in mobile/VR optimization
- Hands-on experience with:
- Animations, Timelines, Particle Systems
- VFX Graph, Nested Prefabs, Material Property Blocks
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience with procedural workflows (Houdini, Substance, or similar DCC tools)
- Ability to create and optimize sprite sheets, textures, and mesh data pipelines
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a passion for innovation in real-time graphics
