This secondary school opened in September 2015 to serve the local community of South Woking. It delivers innovative lessons to years 7‑13, follows the National Curriculum, and embeds ICT in all subjects. The school is a Google School with a new state‑of‑the‑art campus on Egley Road completed in 2018. Role
Deputy Head of Design Technology & Food, appointed from September 2026. The role is suitable for an experienced practitioner or early‑career teacher who wants to develop teaching within a collaborative environment. The successful candidate will teach a bespoke and challenging curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4, with some Key Stage 5 teaching.
Core Responsibilities (in addition to teachers’ standards)
Teaching and Learning
- Teach Food for ages 11‑18.
- Work with the Head of Design Technology and Engineering to design an exciting, relevant, challenging and personalised curriculum.
- Ensure all students make good or outstanding progress with high‑standard teaching.
- Contribute to CPD, share best practice through coaching and resource sharing, and adopt an "open door" teaching policy.
- Promote Design and Technology across the school with vibrant learning opportunities.
- Organise resources to create a purposeful teaching environment, blending traditional techniques, ICT integration and project‑based learning.
- Display students’ work to stimulate classrooms.
- Deploy other adults effectively within the classroom and involve them in planning and management where appropriate.
Progress and Attainment
- Deliver SMART assessment, feedback and monitoring that moves student learning forward.
- Standardise marking with colleagues across the school and partner schools.
- Hold the team to account via line management meetings, faculty meetings and the School's Performance Management policy.
- Analyse student data rigorously to inform planning and intervention programmes.
- Lead and attend internal and external meetings as required.
- Feedback to students and parents/carers in line with school policy.
Behaviour and Safety
- Collaborate with parents to support their child’s progress and future vision.
- Ensure absolute safety of all students on and off site.
- Model and enforce excellent behaviour standards within and beyond the faculty.
- Monitor achievement, attendance, uniform, punctuality and behaviour, responding promptly to any issues.
School Improvement
- Support marketing and recruitment by attending events, contributing to materials and engaging with feeder primary schools.
- Embark on the School's values both on and off site.
- Contribute to the School's Development Plan (SDP) and write specific action plans with the Head of Faculty.
- Monitor budgets with the Head of Faculty, ensuring value for money.
- Coach and mentor colleagues as appropriate.
