Job Title: Production Engineer
Location: Cramlington
Salary: GBP 35,000-38,000

This is a varied, hands‑on role with a 50/50 split between production engineering and maintenance activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations, improving production efficiency, and ensuring machinery and equipment are maintained to minimise downtime.

Production Engineering Responsibilities

  • Support and improve day‑to‑day manufacturing processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Investigate production issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Support process optimisation, tooling improvements, and production line performance.
  • Work closely with production and quality teams to achieve operational targets.

Maintenance Engineering Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) activities.
  • Respond to machine breakdowns and conduct fault‑finding activities.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on manufacturing equipment.
  • Reduce downtime through effective troubleshooting and preventive measures.
  • Assist with machinery installation, upgrades, and commissioning.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong maintenance engineering and fault‑finding experience.
  • Mechanical and/or electrical engineering background.
  • Experience supporting production and process improvement activities.
  • Good understanding of health and safety within manufacturing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Engineering qualification preferred (NVQ/HNC/HND or equivalent).
