Overview

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established law firm, for an experienced Risk and Compliance Manager to lead and develop their compliance function. This is a key position within the firm, responsible for ensuring regulatory adherence and promoting a strong risk-aware culture.

The Role

As Risk and Compliance Manager, you will take ownership of the firm’s compliance framework, working closely with senior leadership to ensure all regulatory obligations are met. You will play a central role in managing risk, maintaining policies, and driving best practice across the firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Overseeing the firm’s risk and compliance strategy
• Ensuring compliance with SRA regulations and other legal requirements
• Acting as the firm’s COLP and/or COFA (if applicable or supporting these roles)
• Managing AML and client due diligence processes
• Leading file audits and compliance reviews
• Developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures
• Monitoring regulatory updates and advising on required changes
• Delivering training to staff on compliance and risk matters
• Handling complaints, breaches, and regulatory reporting where necessary

About You

• Proven experience in a risk and compliance role within a law firm
• Strong knowledge of SRA regulations, AML requirements, and legal compliance frameworks
• Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
• High level of attention to detail and analytical thinking
• Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently

Desirable

• Experience acting as COLP and/or COFA
• Relevant compliance or legal qualifications
