Initial 3-Month Contract (Likely Extension)
3–4 Days On-Site per Week
A Local Authority in Lancashire is seeking an experienced Environmental Protection Officer to support the Environmental Protection team on an initial 3-month contract, with the potential for extension.
This role has arisen to provide additional support within the service and will involve managing a varied caseload of Environmental Protection service requests across a range of statutory nuisance and public health matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigating statutory nuisance complaints including noise, odour, smoke and other environmental concerns
- Managing domestic, commercial and industrial noise complaints
- Responding to cases relating to waste, drainage and associated environmental health matters
- Investigating filthy and verminous premises complaints
- Undertaking site visits, evidence gathering and enforcement action where appropriate
- Providing professional advice to residents, businesses and internal departments
- Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports in accordance with service requirements
Essential Requirements
- Experience working within Environmental Protection in a Local Authority setting
- Strong working knowledge of statutory nuisance legislation
- Experience managing a varied Environmental Protection caseloadli>
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively
- Strong communication and investigative skills
Contract Details
- Initial 3-month contract with potential for extension
- Minimum 3–4 days per week on-site at Preston Town Hall
- Hybrid working available outside of office attendance requirements
