We’re seeking a motivated individual to join our growing Import Operations Team in our Newcastle office.

Our Newcastle office is looking for a motivated, proactive and detail‑focused Import Operations Coordinator to support our expanding import function. The primary focus of the role is managing global import shipments across ocean (LCL/FCL), air, road and rail, ensuring accurate documentation, compliance and excellent customer service throughout.

Applicants must be based in the UK and eligible to work in the UK.

The role involves:

  • Managing global import shipments from start to finish
  • Preparing quotations and booking import movements worldwide
  • Monitoring market trends and pricing to maintain competitiveness
  • Liaising with carriers, shipping lines and suppliers to secure best rates
  • Preparing accurate shipping, customs and financial documentation
  • Sending booking instructions to carriers and agents
  • Handling pre‑alerts, invoices, order traces and customs entries
  • Ensuring cargo is released only against correct documentation and cleared funds
  • Tracking shipments through to delivery and maintaining service standards
  • Keeping customers, agents and suppliers informed throughout
  • Building strong relationships with suppliers, overseas agents and internal teams
  • Supporting general office duties when required

The role requires:

  • Proven experience in import ocean freight operations and quoting
  • Knowledge of air freight and customs systems (training provided where required)
  • Strong documentation, compliance and administrative skills
  • Excellent organisation, communication and customer service abilities
  • Confidence working independently and prioritising workload under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Commercial awareness and confident negotiation skills
  • A flexible, positive and proactive approach
