Sharp Consultancy’s Professional Practice division are delighted to be the recruitment partner to a well‑established regional firm based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Our client are seeking a driven Accounting Manager to join their expanding team following substantial recent investment and the successful completion of a strategic acquisition. The firm are about to enter an exciting phase of growth and are looking for a talented individual to be part of that journey.

We know this firm exceptionally well, having partnered with them for several years and supported recruitment into their senior leadership team. Their client portfolio comprises a wide variety of friendly, well‑known local trusts and sole traders, many of whom have developed long‑standing relationships with the firm. This is a role built around trust and autonomy with your clients – you’ll be able to take ownership of this role and really make your mark on the portfolio.

What’s on offer:

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage a varied portfolio of clients and deliver statutory accounts, tax returns (VAT, Corporation Tax, P11Ds), and management accounts.
  • Provide proactive advice to clients on tax planning, cash flow and financial performance.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, attending regular meetings to discuss financial performance and providing proactive business advice.
  • Review accounts prepared by junior staff, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and identify inaccuracies.
  • Support the firm's growth by maintaining client relationships and identifying new service opportunities.
  • Mentor and supervise junior accountants, delegating tasks and conducting quarterly performance reviews / appraisals.

Person Specification:

  • ACA or ACCA Qualified with a strong Accountancy Practice background
  • Experience of mentoring junior team members

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK full-time without restriction.
