Relationship Director – Operational Hotel Market

HSBC is seeking an experienced professional to join our team to support the Operational Hotel market within our Real Estate Finance (REF) business.

The role involves dedicated relationship management for a portfolio of customers, with accountability for sales, service, risk, and operational delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Maximise profit by identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate solutions, providing holistic relationship management with accountability for business development, service, risk, and operational delivery.
  • Be an ambassador for HSBC and develop the bank’s profile in the local business and wider community.
  • Support customers and place their needs first, setting world‑class standards.
  • Seek new opportunities and nurture existing relationships to identify new business opportunities.
  • Build a network of business introducers in the local professional and business community.
  • Adhere to structures and processes for the management of credit, operational, reputation, financial crime, and regulatory risk.
  • Build a strong understanding of the client’s business and industry to promote insights, enrich client conversations and deliver fair outcomes.
  • Contribute to leadership activities, including coaching less experienced members of the team, relevant for future leadership roles.

Qualifications

  • First‑class relationship management skills with a proven track record in a corporate client‑focused environment and an ability to anticipate clients’ needs and tailor service delivery.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK corporate financing, products, and services, as well as structured banking transactions including IPOs, leveraged finance, syndicated loans, private placements, bonds and securitisation, and global capital markets.
  • Strong ability to manage competing priorities of deal flows, credit quality, and the requirement to drive income.
  • Strong understanding of all areas of risk management and processes, including restructuring.
  • Knowledge of changing economic, social, and governmental environment and how they might affect the hotel sector in the UK.
  • Ability to work with colleagues at all levels, strong team skills promoting an environment of co‑operation and trust, overcoming resistance where encountered.
  • Excellent prioritising, organisation, decision making and time management abilities, with strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with excellent influencing skills and an ability to build positive working relationships with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
