Job Description
A leading engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Senior EICA Engineer to support a growing portfolio of water sector projects across the UK. This role offers flexible hybrid working, with the expectation of attending a Manchester office and project sites as required.
This is a long term contract position, and can be outside ir35.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Lead Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality Electrical, Control, Instrumentation & Automation (EICA) design solutions across major water frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver cost-effective design documentation aligned with client specifications and project requirements.
- Produce outline and detailed EICA designs for water sector projects.
- Conduct site surveys and provide technical input during project lifecycle.
- Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and produce detailed reports.
- Review and ensure compliance of subcontractor designs.
- Prepare, check, and approve engineering documentation.
- Ensure compliance with UK and international standards, legislation, and client procedures.
- Develop equipment and material requisitions for EICA systems.
- Prepare installation scopes of work.
- Review supplier quotations and complete technical bid assessments.
- Provide support during site construction and commissioning phases.
Requirements
- Significant experience delivering UK water sector projects (essential).
- Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Control Engineering, or similar (apprenticeship routes also considered).
- 10+ years’ experience in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Strong knowledge of design practices and installation requirements within the water sector.
- Solid understanding of UK legislation and standards (including WIMES).
- Experience working in hazardous areas (e.g. ATEX environments).
- Knowledge of CE marking requirements (ATEX, PED, Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive, EMC).Awareness of risk management and HSE requirements.
