Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Part‑time or Full‑time Band 6 Clinical Studies Officer to join the Neuroprogressive and Dementia Network (NDN) within NHS Lothian. The post offers the chance to become part of a dedicated research delivery team based at the Western General Hospital. The team is actively involved in the coordination and delivery of a diverse portfolio of clinical trials across a range of neuro‑degenerative conditions, including Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia with Lewy bodies, progressive supranuclear palsy, mild cognitive impairment, vascular dementia, and Huntington’s disease.
Team Overview
The NHS Lothian NDN team forms part of a Scotland‑wide research delivery network funded by the Chief Scientist Office. The Network’s primary aim is to support and facilitate the efficient set‑up and delivery of high‑quality clinical trials in dementia and neuro‑degenerative diseases across Scotland. Locally in NHS Lothian, the team is led by Jessica Crossan, Senior Clinical Studies Officer and Dr Gordon Duncan, NDN Lothian Clinical Lead and Consultant Geriatrician.
Requirements
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
Qualifications
- Experience of working in a research environment with experience of being involved in research studies.
- Able to interact confidently with people with dementia or those with neurological disease and their carers.
