Banana Moon Day Nurseries is a leading provider of high quality childcare and early years education. For our setting in Sunderland, we are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced deputy nursery manager to join our team in delivering exceptional care and education to children.

As the Deputy Nursery Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the nursery manager in the day‑to‑day management of the nursery. You will be responsible for providing a safe and nurturing environment for children, overseeing the implementation of the curriculum and ensuring the smooth running of operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the nursery manager in implementing and maintaining policies and procedures
  • Support and supervise nursery staff, providing guidance and training as needed
  • Ensure the nursery is compliant with regulatory requirements and health and safety guidelines
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff, fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect
  • Assist in planning and organising age appropriate activities and learning experiences for children
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the nursery's quality of care and education

The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background in early years education, along with proven experience in a leadership or supervisory position within a nursery setting. You should have deep understanding of early years frameworks and regulations, and a genuine passion for providing the best possible start in life for young children.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum level three qualification in Early Years or equivalent
  • At least two years of experience in a senior role within an early year setting
  • Sound knowledge of the EYFS framework and statutory requirements
  • Experience in leading and motivating a team of nursery staff
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • DBS clearance and relevant safeguarding training
