Consultant in Emergency Medicine (2 positions)

We are seeking two consultant clinicians for our Emergency Department at West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Location: West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds.

Role & Responsibilities

The position operates on an annualised rota with a 1:10 on‑call basis, providing flexible senior coverage across the department. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high‑quality emergency care and providing leadership within the team.
  • Developing and supporting subspecialty interests such as resuscitation, ultrasound, clinical governance, medical leadership, and teaching/education.
  • Participating in service improvement and quality assurance initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified consultant in Emergency Medicine with strong core EM skills.
  • Evidence of interest or expertise in the areas listed above (resuscitation, ultrasound, clinical governance, medical leadership, teaching and education).
  • Experience of working in a busy emergency department, preferably in a rural NHS setting.
