A global leader in point‑of‑sale (POS) innovation is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join their high‑performing engineering team in the East Midlands. This is a pivotal role within a business that partners with some of the most recognisable brands in retail, delivering complex, high‑impact display solutions across plastic fabrication, injection moulding and advanced manufacturing processes.
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will take ownership of the end‑to‑end design and development of sophisticated POS display units. You will play a key role in shaping technical direction, driving engineering excellence, and ensuring the successful delivery of innovative solutions for major global retailers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex POS products from concept through to production, utilising expertise in injection moulding, sheet metal fabrication, vacuum forming and other manufacturing processes.
- Drive DFM strategy and oversee overseas manufacturing development, working closely with international suppliers, production partners and cross‑functional teams.
- Manage prototyping and production, ensuring seamless transition from prototype to mass manufacture while maintaining quality, cost and performance targets.
- Champion engineering best practice, conduct technical reviews, identify improvements and ensure robust documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including production, commercial and overseas manufacturing partners.
- Lead design reviews and present engineering recommendations.
- Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation, specifications and BOMs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Product Design Engineer, Senior Product Development Engineer or Mechanical Engineer within a manufacturing environment.
- A relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
- Strong background in POS / POP design (highly desirable).
- Expertise in design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA).
- Advanced knowledge of plastic injection moulding and plastic fabrication processes.
- High proficiency in SolidWorks, with the ability to produce complex, production‑ready models and drawings.
