Team Leader – Fixed Term (until 31/05/2027)
Location: Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre
Salary: £56,392 – £67,457
Hours: 36 per week
An opportunity has arisen for a 10‑month fixed‑term Team Leader position within our PrePare Team, providing cover for maternity leave.
About PrePare
PrePare is an early intervention, integrated, multi‑disciplinary team who work with pregnant women and their partners who have significant substance use.
Our multi‑agency team aims to reduce substance use and related harm to mother and child by providing health care, social care, assessment, and support throughout pregnancy and, where necessary, up to two years post‑birth.
PrePare works with both parents in a restorative manner, supporting early childhood development and increasing positive early parenting experiences by focusing on strengths, building resilience, and keeping the child at the centre of our support.
The co‑location aspect of PrePare produces a cohesive, multidisciplinary team around families where risks are at their highest for both mothers and babies.
Responsibilities
The position will involve direct management of:
- 1 Advanced Practitioner
- 2 Social Workers
- 2 Family Practitioners
- 1 Children’s Services Practitioner
and oversight of 5 NHS professionals, including CPNs, midwives, and health visitors.
Leadership duties also include:
- Providing high‑quality supervision to staff;
- Ensuring quality assurance and continuous service evaluation;
- Leading on organisational change, including quantitative and qualitative data capture to measure impact.
Qualifications and Experience
- Social Work qualification recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and registration with the SSSC.
- Significant experience in a Children and Families Social Work setting, with knowledge of working with unborn babies and mothers affected by substance use.
- Skill in assessing and managing complexity and child protection risk.
- Demonstrated capability to lead a team and provide high‑quality supervision.
- Strong background in multi‑agency working.
- Understanding of specific vulnerabilities and risks related to pregnancy and the early period of an infant’s life.
- Experience with quality assurance and evaluation of services.
Legal and Screening Requirements
This is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to satisfactory completion of these checks.
