Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home
Area: Vale of Glamorgan, St Athan
Contract: Permanent, Full time
Hours: 35 hours per week
Days: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm or 8am to 4pm
Salary: £36,480
We are looking for an experienced Senior Support Worker who is keen to progress into a management position – or a Deputy Manager who would like to move into the charity sector. After spending time in the role, there are real progression and training opportunities, with options to complete the Level 4 and Level 5 QCF and on to a Registered Manager role in the future.
Are you ready to take on a leadership role that will truly change lives? We’re looking for a passionate and motivated Deputy Manager to help shape and manage a brand-new Registered Children’s Home supporting young people aged 11+.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of something special from the very beginning – helping to establish a warm, safe, and nurturing home environment that empowers young people to reach their full potential.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home
- Leading, inspiring, and developing a team of Residential Childcare Workers
- Ensuring the home delivers the highest standards of care in line with CIW regulations
- Creating a psychologically informed and trauma-aware environment
- Building strong relationships with young people, staff, families, and partner agencies
- Managing rotas, risk assessments, safeguarding, and compliance
- Covering the occupational shift (days/nights, sickness, and annual leave)
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working in a registered service and within safeguarding frameworks
- A strong understanding of trauma-informed care and positive behaviour management
- Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a team
- Calm, resilient, and empathetic approach, even under pressure
- NVQ Level 4 in Management in Care (or willingness to work towards it)
- Registration with Social Care Wales (or eligibility to register)
What's on offer?
- Salary of £36,000 per annum
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing to 32 days with service)
- Pension scheme with enhanced contributions after 12 months
- Ongoing professional development and training
- A chance to make a real difference in young people’s lives
If you’re driven, compassionate, and ready for a challenge, this is your chance to take on a leadership role where every day brings the opportunity to change a future.
