How You Will Make an Impact

The Risk Team’s objective is to define and develop credit risk strategies that drive growth while delivering good customer outcomes at acquisition and throughout the customer lifecycle. The role involves conducting detailed analyses and implementing new credit risk strategies for the UK Consumer and Small Business Card portfolio. The successful candidate will focus on tracking and explaining acquisition and portfolio performance metrics, developing and evaluating new data sources, and collaborating closely with business partners on strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Generate analytical insights and identify emerging trends to proactively respond to evolving credit trends across the customer lifecycle
  • Evaluate new data sources and stay abreast of industry trends to enhance existing frameworks and deliver profitable risk strategies and better customer outcomes
  • Develop strong partnerships with colleagues across Central Risk, Operations, Product, Acquisitions, and Compliance teams to drive enterprise‑wide success in the UK market
  • Conduct detailed analyses and implement new credit risk strategies for the UK Consumer and Small Business Card portfolio
  • Track and explain acquisition and portfolio performance metrics and collaborate closely with business partners on strategic initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in risk management or data analytics roles
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a quantitative field (e.g., Finance, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics)
  • Coding skills in SQL or Python with hands‑on experience
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to apply quantitative methods and business knowledge to generate insights and drive results
  • Knowledge of underwriting and consumer/commercial bureau data
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to translate technical analyses into business strategy recommendations and effectively present ideas to stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work independently within a matrix organisation and collaborate with various partners—including capabilities, decision sciences, technology teams, and external vendors—to deliver effective solutions
  • Results‑driven with strong project‑management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to quickly learn and independently navigate complex, unstructured initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of statistical concepts
  • Knowledge of the UK regulatory landscape for consumer lending
