We are seeking a motivated and skilled Staff Nurse to join our dynamic Surgical SDEC team. This fast paced service supports the rapid assessment, treatment and discharge of surgical patients, reducing unnecessary admissions and improving patient flow.
Key Skills and Knowledge
- Sound surgical nursing assessment skills, including recognition and escalation of deteriorating patients
- Experience in managing acute surgical conditions (e.g., abdominal pain, post‑operative complications, wound issues)
- Competence in clinical observations, venepuncture, cannulation, ECGs and use of clinical decision tools
- Strong communication and prioritisation skills to support safe, timely patient care in an ambulatory setting
- Understanding of infection prevention, documentation standards and multidisciplinary working
Responsibilities
The post holder will work independently, in conjunction with the wider nursing team to deliver and maintain a high standard of nursing care, within the framework of National and Trust policies, referring to senior colleagues as needed. To be responsible for all aspects of patient care including the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of personalised care, ensuring patients feel safe, supported and informed to make decisions regarding their care, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to maintain safe and effective care at all times.
