This is more than a technical role – it's a chance to make a real impact on the future of water and the natural environment.About the roleReporting to the Abstraction Compliance and Assurance Manager, the Abstraction Licensing Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of abstraction licences across the Anglian Water region. You will lead on compliance monitoring, regulatory reporting, licence applications, and financial oversight, ensuring robust processes are in place and no regulatory commitments are missed.This is a business critical role requiring strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the confidence to interpret complex regulations and communicate technical information clearly across the business.Key responsibilitiesLead abstraction licence compliance monitoring, including daily checks and compliance investigationsEnsure accuracy and integrity of all abstraction licence and monitoring datasetsProduce high-quality regulatory submissions, including abstraction returns and self-reportingAct as technical lead on abstraction licensing matters, advising and supporting internal stakeholdersManage abstraction licence applications, renewals, variations, transfers, and revocationsOversee abstraction licence financials, including annual fees, charges, and derogation paymentsSupport enhanced modelling and analysis for high-risk ("hot") licence reviewsMaintain accurate corporate records of all licence conditions and changesWork collaboratively with external bodies, including the Environment Agency and technical consultantsSupport EIR requests and contribute to audit and assurance activitiesMentor and share knowledge within the team to strengthen capability and resilienceRequired skills and experienceEducated to HNC level or equivalent NVQExperience in water resource management or environmental assessment (Desirable)Strong experience working with large datasets, data analysis, and reportingConfidence interpreting regulatory, legal, and licence documentationExperience managing regulatory submissions and compliance processesStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skillsExcellent organisational skills with strong attention to detailConfidence and experience in owning large and complex financial processes and budget oversightExperience using telemetry systems (Desirable)Ability to manage your own workload and priorities effectivelyAs a valued employee, you'll be entitled to:Personal private health care26 days annual leave, rising with service, plus Bank HolidaysOption to swap Christmas and Easter holidays for those celebrated by your religionLife cover at 8x your salaryPersonal accident cover up to 5x your salaryFlexible working optionsCompetitive pension scheme – Anglian Water double‑matches your contribution up to 6%Bonus schemeA wide range of flexible benefits to support your wellbeing and lifestyleWhy Anglian Water?Anglian Water is not your typical water company.
