Blue Diamond Recruitment is proud to be supporting a leading five-star house builder in the appointment of a Senior Architectural Technician or Technologist to join their East Midlands Technical team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Technician or Technologist to take ownership of projects from land stage through to completion, while also supporting and mentoring junior team members within a high-performing regional business.

The Role

Reporting to the Architectural Technical Manager, you will play a key role in the coordination of design and technical delivery across multiple residential developments.

You will be involved at every stage of the development lifecycle, from early land appraisal and planning through to construction, handover and post-completion support.

Key Relationships

  • Regional Design & Technical Team
  • Head Office Technical Team
  • Land, Planning, Sales & Construction teams
  • External consultants, local authorities and stakeholders

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting land bids and strategic land opportunities with technical, planning and design input
  • Producing site layouts, house type drawings and planning documentation
  • Managing and coordinating planning applications (outline, full and reserved matters)
  • Liaising with local authorities and stakeholders throughout the planning process
  • Coordinating building regulations submissions and approvals
  • Producing and issuing construction information to site teams
  • Managing live sites, attending meetings and resolving technical queries
  • Preparing legal, contract and conveyancing drawings
  • Supporting site setup and legal coordination
  • Providing technical input into customer care and post-completion issues
  • Coordinating external consultants (e.g. ecology, archaeology, noise)
  • Mentoring and supporting junior team members
  • Attending meetings, including occasional evening community/planning events

About You

  • Experience within a housebuilder’s design/technical department
  • Strong working knowledge of residential development processes
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • IT literate (Excel, Word and common software packages)
  • Experience managing large residential schemes independently
  • CIAT qualification or RIBA Part I/II
  • Experience with Adobe software (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)
  • Strong mentoring or team leadership experience
