We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our clients growing team. This role offers the opportunity to provide high-level mechanical engineering expertise across a range of projects within the built environment, with a particular focus on the Healthcare and Education sectors.

You will play a key role in both design and project delivery, ensuring technical excellence while managing projects from concept through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver projects to a high technical standard, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget
  • Contribute to and lead the mechanical design of building services systems, particularly where advanced technical input is required
  • Support the team leader in developing practical, cost-effective engineering solutions
  • Engage with clients to define project briefs, requirements, and budgets
  • Prepare detailed specifications, calculations, and technical drawings in line with client needs
  • Review tender submissions and provide recommendations through detailed tender reports
  • Manage site activities from initial mobilisation through to project completion
  • Monitor installation works to ensure compliance with specifications and agree final contractor accounts
  • Conduct condition surveys and produce detailed inspection reports
  • Produce high-quality technical reports, presentations, and tender documentation
  • Develop energy strategies, incorporating sustainable and low-carbon design solutions
  • Utilise industry-standard software including IES, AutoCAD, and Revit
  • Design and coordinate mechanical systems, including plantroom layouts, pipework, and ductwork distribution
  • Undertake site visits, surveys, and witness testing and commissioning of systems
  • Support financial performance through accurate monthly fee invoicing and achieving agreed targets

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Membership of CIBSE, the Energy Institute, or an equivalent professional body (preferred)
  • Chartered Engineer status, or working towards chartership
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects to deadlines and budget constraints
  • Strong working knowledge of IES mechanical design software
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, with Revit experience desirable
  • Good understanding of relevant legislation, building regulations, CIBSE guides, and industry best practices
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
