This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing specialist consultancy that helps innovative businesses unlock funding through R&D tax incentives and wider innovation reliefs. With ambitious growth plans ahead, the business is continuing to invest heavily in its commercial function.

You will be joining a high-performing, collaborative environment where technical expertise is paired with a modern, relationship‑led approach to business development. This is not a high-volume sales environment. The focus is on building long‑term relationships, understanding client challenges and positioning a premium advisory service in a rapidly evolving market.

The role

You will play a key role in driving new business activity, developing your own pipeline and building strong long‑term relationships with clients, introducers and professional partners.

Working closely with technical specialists and senior stakeholders internally, you will help businesses understand the value of innovation incentives and guide them through the wider advisory offering.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and convert your own pipeline through targeted, relationship-led outreach across multiple channels
  • Build strong relationships with prospective clients and position a premium advisory offering
  • Educate businesses on innovation incentives including R&D tax, Patent Box, grants and capital allowances
  • Build and nurture referral relationships through your network, introducers and professional partners
  • Collaborate closely with technical teams to progress opportunities effectively
  • Maintain accurate pipeline management, forecasting and CRM reporting
  • Travel nationally where required to meet clients and build relationships face-to-face

What they are looking for

  • Proven experience within B2B business development – within R&D Tax is highly desirable
  • Experience across the wider innovation landscape or selling into CFOs, CEOs, accountants or senior financial stakeholders would also be highly beneficial
  • Strong commercial mindset with a track record of achieving or exceeding targets
  • Relationship-led and consultative sales approach
  • Comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and adapting communication style accordingly
  • Proactive and self-sufficient with the ability to build a pipeline independently
  • Interest in innovation and the ability to quickly grasp technical concepts
