Registered Midwife – Band 6 – 22.5 hours – Fixed term 12 months

Required to undertake shifts covering nights, weekends and bank holidays.

To provide direct inpatient midwifery care within a safe environment, working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating midwifery care to ensure the safety of women, birthing people and their babies.

We are committed to the continual professional development of midwives within our Trust and run an innovative and well‑structured training programme that supports and enhances midwifery skills to project the most recent evidence‑based care. We also currently offer a variety of external courses to assist with ongoing continual professional development that pique the interest of midwives including aromatherapy, biomechanics of birth, maternity critical care, professional midwifery advocates (PMA), physiological breech birth, hypnotherapy and many more. We support the wellbeing of staff through the establishment and dedication of a Professional Midwifery Advocacy Service and the additional benefits listed below.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced band 6 midwife to join Stockport NHS Foundation Trust’s maternity services. The successful postholder will have the opportunity to develop their skills in a variety of maternity areas including high risk and low risk intrapartum care, maternity triage and antenatal and postnatal inpatient services. We currently provide intrapartum inpatient services within two environments: our birth centre has three pool rooms and a further birthing room, all designed to provide a relaxing environment for birth. Our recently redecorated delivery suite promotes a safe yet serene environment and consists of one pool room and a further eight delivery rooms, with a specialist bereavement suite also available. We also have a twenty‑eight bed mixed antenatal and postnatal ward that promotes a restful recovery post birth. The maternity triage department is co‑located with our antenatal day unit and successfully promotes the use of the Birmingham Symptom Specific Obstetric Triage System to promote safe standards of care.

We hold a unique position in the Stockport community as the provider of healthcare and we are one of its largest employers. Our mission is to make a difference every day. Our values are that we care, we respect, and we listen. We believe that the best organisations are those that reflect the communities they serve. We are therefore seeking to improve the diversity of our workforce to make it truly representative of our local population.

We actively encourage applications irrespective of race, age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion or belief, marriage & civil partnership, or pregnancy or maternity. Recognising those communities that are under‑represented within our workforce, we would particularly welcome applications from you. We recognise that flexible working is important.
