Business Development Director – Soft Services

Location: London (Head Office)

Reporting to: CEO

We are seeking a highly driven and commercially focused Business Development Director to join a leading soft services facilities management organisation. This is a strategic growth role centred on expanding front-of-house, security, and cleaning services across commercial, corporate, and public sector clients.

The Role:

You will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, managing tenders (PQQs/RFPs) and converting prospects into high value contracts. Maximising the potential of existing client relationships through upsell and cross sell opportunities is a key part of this role. You will work closely with operational teams to ensure solutions are practical, competitive and aligned with service delivery capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive business growth across the soft services facilities management sector, including cleaning, security, and front-of-house, by implementing strategic development plans to achieve revenue and margin targets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients, leading meetings, presentations and negotiations.
  • Manage the full tender process, preparing tailored, high-quality bids and proposals.
  • Maintain an active and well qualified sales pipeline within the soft services FM space, providing accurate forecasting and regular performance reporting to senior management.
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure seamless mobilisation and delivery of soft services contracts, ensuring alignment between sales commitments and service capability.
  • Represent the business at industry events and client engagements.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, industry standards and company policies throughout the sales process.

About You:

  • Proven track record in business development within the soft services facilities management sector, with essential experience across cleaning, security, and front-of-house services.
  • Strong history of winning new business specifically within soft services FM, including managing complex tenders and securing high-value contracts in this space.
  • Deep understanding of soft services operations and commercial drivers, with the ability to develop pricing strategies, manage pipelines, and consistently deliver against revenue targets.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to position soft services solutions effectively to clients.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders within the soft services, property, and commercial sectors, while working closely with operational teams to ensure service delivery alignment.
  • Highly driven, with a strong commercial mindset and a hands-on approach to generating revenue and personal success.
