Responsibilities

  • Evaluate operator tasks and system interactions, identifying improvements to enhance usability and performance.
  • Assess workload and situation awareness, supporting designs that optimise operator effectiveness and reduce human error.
  • Plan and conduct user trials, evaluating designs and refining human interaction with systems.
  • Assess HMI and HCI, using tools such as CAD, VR and mock‑ups.
  • Author and review technical documentation, supporting safety cases and providing clear human factors assessment.
  • Contribute to safety cases, human reliability assessment and technical documentation for major submarine programmes including SSNA.

Qualifications

  • Relevant degree in Human Factors, Ergonomics or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Willingness to work toward professional chartership (CIEHF) to support ongoing development.
  • Experience reviewing documentation with considerable attention to detail, supporting safety outputs.
  • Effective communication skills with stakeholders within project or operation environments.

Benefits

Salary: £42,215+ (DOE).
